Where to park?

Parking is free of charge, and you can park in the parking lot right beside the mill in the gravel parking lot. We got there around 11:00am, and it was very crowded. That is one of the downsides to this place because it’s so popular. We found a parking spot, but it took a few minutes.

I’d suggest arriving earlier if possible!

When is the best time to visit cider farms?

The best time to visit is during the fall of the year. Vermont is one of the best places to visit during the fall! The fall foliage on the green rolling hills surrounding the cider mill are so beautiful. The weather is crisp outside! We visited during the second week of October, and it was about 55 degrees Fahrenheit outside. It was perfect!

It’s also a great time to visit in the spring and summer!

Is it free to visit?

Yes, it is free to visit. If you’d like to purchase apple cider and the legendary donuts, I HIGHLY recommend it 🙂 The apple cider is only a few dollars, and the half-dozen donuts were $6.00.

How does it work? How is apple cider made?

The apple cider mill’s process is quite amazing! The apples grown at local farms in Vermont, and they’re hand-picked and collected into 20 bushel bins.

The apples are trucked to the Cold Hollow Mill, and a forklift dumps the apples onto an elevator which carries them to the washer and grinder. Which is pumped to the cider press where over 100 tons of pressure is applied.

The freshly squeezed apple cider is screened and pumped into large cooling tanks and packaged for purchase. You can try their legendary Vermont cider too by purchasing online here!

Our honest experience…

Cold Hollow cider was a must visit experience for us! We were on a fall roadtrip through New England, and this was the perfect stop along the way. We got hot apple cider and the Legendary Cider donuts.

The apple cider was different than anywhere else I’ve tasted it.

It was very sweet and not bitter at all. You know how some ciders (mostly purchased from large commercial stories like Wal-Mart or Target) has a bitter or sour aftertaste? Not this cider! It was like drinking apple candy! It melted in my mouth, and so did the cider donuts!

What to wear?

I suggest wearing something cute, because why not?! 🙂 You can find all my fall outfits on my Like To Know It, where you can click on each post and go to the products!
